For those of you stopping by from outside this little funny boot known as Italy, we are thinking of providing a weekly service with all the news regarding Snaidero Udine and other stuff that might be of some interest. Be patient with our rusty English. It will improve with time.
Let's start with the first win of the season.
Udine managed to defeat the once-undefeated Rome, with an aerial assault from the three point line. Udine shot nearly 70% from the arch and took advantage of an outstanding performance by his shooting guard, former UConn
Rashad Anderson.
The Dagger was almost perfect from the land of plenty, scoring 7 of his 8 attempts, to go with 8 straight free throws. Udine grabbed his first win of the season thanks to a superb 4th quarter by
Oscarito Torres, who exploded with 15 points in less than 7 minutes. Udine was trailing by 9 point at the beginning of the quarter when the Venezuelan took fire, scoring 4 three pointers and 3 free throws. Udine took the lead and never looked back. After 4 losses (two of them definitely disappointing), hitting a W against a top team is a fresh breath of air for a franchise that has yet to come together this season.
Jermaine Jackson, the former NBA journeyman, was a factor dishing out 9 assists and scoring in double digits for the first time in 5 matches. He now
leads the league in assists and his teammate Anderson is the
best scorer. Fans in Udine hope that they finally saw the blooming of native player
Michele Antonutti.
The Swan, one of the dozen nicknames of the skinny swingman, had his best performance in his young career, scoring 17 points and grabbing 7 rebounds. Too many times, after a good performance, Michele came up short in the following match. He will have a chance to prove he's grown up this coming Sunday when Udine travels to
Pesaro to play against ScavoSpar. The showdown in Pesaro is heartfelt by Udine's owner, Edi Snaidero, because the main sponsor of both teams are rivals also in "real life", duelling in the same brench of business.
